“Swingin’s Mutual” by the George Shearing Quintet with Nancy Wilson

NANCY напуска Columbus и започва да пее в клуба „Blue Morocco“ в New York City.

Dinah Washington.

LYRICS:

The Things We Did Last Summer

The boat rides we would take, the moonlight on the lake
The way we danced and hummed our favrite song
The things we did last summer I ll remember all winter long

The midway and the fun, the kewpie dolls we won
The bell I rang to prove that I was strong
The things we did last summer I ll remember all winter long

The early morning hike, the rented tandem bike
The lunches that we used to pack
We never could explain that sudden summer rain
The looks we got when we got back

The leaves began to fade like promises we made
How could a love that seemed so right go wrong?
The things we did last summer I ll remember all winter long

Ive tried so to forget, at times I do, and yet
The memory of you lingers like our song
The things we did last summer, I ll remember all winter long

All Night Long

Never knew the softness of his tender kiss
Don t know if he s weak or strong
All I know is he s every dream I dream
All night long

Never heard him say a single word of love
Don t know his fate or his soul
Cause he only speaks to me in dreams I ve dreamed
All night long

When I sleep he tells me he s in love with me
And how much he needs me to be near
But at best my dream is just a fantasy
If I touch his hand he ll disappear, no no no

I don t wanna love that s just a memory
Fate, how could you be so warm?

Now, I ve got to find the man who s haunting me
All night long

When I sleep he tells me he s in love with me
And how much he needs me to be near
But at best my dream is just a fantasy
If I touch his hand he ll disappear, no no no

I don t wanna love that s just a memory
Fate, how could you be so warm?
Now, I ve got to find the man who s haunting me
All night long

Now, I ve got to find the man who s haunting me
All night long
All night long
All night long

Gentleman Friend

I m riding high and I approve of the trend,
Look what I ve found me,
I ve got myself a gentleman friend.
The sun is kind, seems like it never will end
When he s around me,

I m referring to my gentleman friend.
His kind of kissin
Suits me to a tee,
What I was missin
In the used-to-be
I m getting frequently!

And so goodbye to cares that hound me,
Is it any wonder that I wanna laugh and sing and cry?
Gonna love him till I die,
My gentleman friend.
His kind of kissin
Suits me to a tee,
What I was missin
In the used-to-be
I m getting frequently!

And so goodbye to cares that hound me,
Is it any wonder that I wanna laugh and sing and cry?
Gonna love him till I die,
My gentleman friend.
And so goodbye to cares that hound me,
Is it any wonder that I wanna laugh and sing and cry?
Gonna love him till I die,
My gentleman friend,
My gentleman friend,
My gentleman friend.

Born To Be Blue

Some folks were meant to live in clover
But they are such a chosen few, chosen few
And clover being green
Is something I ve never seen
Cause I was born to be blue

When there s a yellow moon above me
They say there s moonbeams I should view, I should view
But moonbeams being gold
Are something I can t behold
Cause I was born to be blue

When I met you
The world was bright and sunny
When you left the curtain fell
I d like to laugh
But nothing strikes me funny
Now my world s a faded pastel, oh well

I guess I m luckier than some folks
Woo woo woo
I ve known the thrill of lovin you, lovin you
And that alone is more than I was created for
Cause I was born to be blue

When I met you
The world was bright and sunny
When you left the curtain fell
I d like to laugh
But nothing strikes me funny
Now my world s a faded pastel, oh well

I guess I m luckier than some folks
I ve known the thrill of lovin you, lovin you
And that alone is more than I was created for
Cause I was born to be blue
Woo woo

On Green Dolphin Street

It seems like a dream, yet I know it happened
A man, a maid, a kiss, and then goodbye
Romance was the theme
And we were the players
I never think of this without a sigh

Lover, one lovely day
Love came, planning to stay
Green Dolphin Street supplied the setting
The setting for nights beyond forgetting
And through these moments apart memories live in my heart
When I recall the love I found on
I could kiss the ground on Green Dolphin Street

Lover, one lovely day
Love came, planning to stay
Green Dolphin Street supplied the setting
The setting for nights beyond forgetting
And through these moments apart memories live in my heart
When I recall the love I found on
On Green Dolphin Street

Let s Live Again

When I look at you, a dream came true
And suddenly right then,
moon beams where shimmering so bright
You were holding me so tight, wont you give again,
let s live again

Stars were in the sky s and filled my eyes
And I had to count ten
I sailed away up to the moon
Light and gay as a balloon
When you re giving, I m livin again

I m telling you true, I m livin for you
I ve got it bad and glad it had to be
I m in a spin, you got the engine sign on me
Seize me, squeeze me

It s a lonely world my hearts unpearled the same as it was then
I m flying frantically above, so romantically in love
Won t you give again, lets live again

I m telling you true, I m livin for you
I ve got it bad and glad it had to be
I m in a spin, you got the engine sign on me
Seize me, squeeze me

It s a lonely world my hearts unpearled the same as it was then
I m flying frantically above so romantically in love
Won t you give again, lets live again
Won t you give again, lets live again

The Nearness of You

It s not the pale moon that excites me
That thrills and delights me, oh no
It s just the nearness of you

It isn t your sweet conversation
That brings this sensation, oh no
It s just the nearness of you

When you re in my arms and I feel you so close to me
All my wildest dreams come true

I need no soft lights to enchant me
If you ll only grant me the right
To hold you ever so tight
And to feel in the night the nearness of you
