Идеята бе в него да включим знакови песни като „Body and Soul“, „My Funny Valentine“, „Lover Man“, „In A Sentimental Mood“, „T Ain t Nobody Business If I Do“ и т.

LADY SINGS THE BLUES
(Billie Holiday, Herbie Nichols)

Lady sings the blues
She got them bad
She feels so sad

Wants the world to know
Just what the blues is all about

The blues ain t nothing
But a pain in your heart
When you got a bad start
You and your man have to part

Lady sings the blues...

GEE BABY AIN’T I GOOD TO YOU
(Don Redman, Andy Razaf)

Love makes me treat you the way that I do
Gee, baby, ain t I good to you
There s nothin too good for a man like you
Gee, baby, ain t I good to you

I bought you gold cufflinks for Christmas
A sapphire ring, a diamond tie pin fit for a king
Oh, love makes me treat you the way that I do
Gee baby ain t
I good to you

(Instrumental)
Gee, baby, ain t I good to you
(Instrumental)
Gee, baby, ain t I good to you

I make your eggs every morning with apple butter on your toast
Praised your mainly charms from coast to coast
Love makes me treat you the way that I do
Gee, baby, ain t I good to you
Gee, baby, ain t I good to you

AM I BLUE
(Music: Harry Akst / Lyrics: Grant Clarke)

I m just a woman, a lonely woman
Waitin on the weary shore
I m just a woman that s only human
One you should be sorry for

Got up this mornin along about dawn
Without a warnin I found he was gone
Why should he do it, how could he do it
He never done it before

Am I blue, am I blue
Aint these tears in these eyes tellin you
Am I blue, you d be too
If each plan with your man done fell through

Was a time I was his only one
But now I m the sad and lonely one, Lawdy
Was I gay, til today
Now he s gone, and we re through, am I blue

It s aggravatin to stand here waitin
Waitin for a triflin man
It set me hatin to stand here waitin
Suicide s my only plan

I think it s awful, his treatment of me
It s most unlawful how mean he can be
I can t forget him, I m bound to get him
I ll run him down if I can

Am I blue, am I blue
Aint these tears in these eyes tellin you
Am I blue, you d be too
If each plan with your man done fell through

Was a time I was his only one
But now I m the sad and lonely one, Lawdy
Was I gay, til today
Now he s gone, and we re through, am I blue

YOU VE CHANGED
(Carl Fischer / Bill Carey)

You ve changed
That sparkle in your eye is gone
Your smile is just a careless yawn
You re breaking my heart
You ve changed

You ve changed
You re kisses now are so blasé
You re bored with me in every way
I can t understand
You ve changed

You ve forgotten the words I love you
Each memory that we ve shared
You ignore every star above you
I can t realize you ve ever cared

You ve changed
You re not the angel I once knew
No need to tell me that we re through
It s all over now
You ve changed

T AINT NOBODY S BUSINESS [BIZNESS] IF I DO
Porter Grainger & Everett Robbins

There ain t nothin I can do, or nothin I can say
That folks don t criticise me,
But I m going to do just as I want to anyway,
And don t care if you all despise me!

If I should take a notion
To jump into the ocean,
T aint nobody s business if I do, do, do!

If I go to church on Sunday,
Then just shimmy down on Monday,
T aint nobody s business if I do, if I do!

If my friend ain t got no money,
And I say, "Take all mine, honey",
T aint nobody s business if I do, do, do do!

If I give him my lasy nickel,
And it leaves me in a pickle,
T aint nobody s business if I do, if I do!

There, I d rather my man was hittin me,
Than to jump right up and quittin me,
T aint nobody s business if I do, do, do do!

I swear I won t call no copper
If I m beat up by my papa,
T aint nobody s business if I do, if I do!

YOU RE BLASE
Ord Hamilton (m) Bruce Sievier (l)

You re deep, just like a chasm,
You ve no enthusiasm,
You re tired
And uninspired,
You re blasé!

Your day is one of leisure,
In which you search for pleasure,
You re bored
When you re adored,
You re blasé!

While reaching for the moon,
The stars up in the sky,
The simple things of normal life
Are slowly passing by.

You sleep, the sun is shining,
You wake, it s time for dining,
There s nothing new
For you to do,
You re blasé!

While reaching for the moon,
The stars up in the sky,
The simple things of normal life
Are slowly passing by.

You sleep, the sun is shining,
You wake, it s time for dining,
There s nothing new
For you to do,
You re blasé!
You re blasé!
You re blasé!

TEACH ME TONIGHT
(Sammy Cahn / Gene DePaul)

Did you say that I ve got a lot to learn
Well don t think I m trying not to learn
Since this is the perfect spot to learn
Teach me tonight

Starting with the ABC of it
Getting right down to the XYZ of it
Help me solve the mystery of it
Teach me tonight

The sky s a blackboard high above you
And if a shooting star goes by
I ll use that star to write "I love you"
A thousand times across the sky

One thing isn t very clear my love
Teachers shouldn t stand so near my love
Graduation s almost hear my love
teach me... teach me tonight

The sky s a blackboard high above you
And if a shooting star goes by
I ll use that star to write "I love you"
A thousand times across the sky

One thing isn t very clear my love
Teachers shouldn t stand so near my love
Graduation s almost hear my love
teach me tonight

Graduation s
teach me tonight

MIDNIGHT SUN
Sonny Burke (m) Lionel Hampton (m)
Johnny Mercer (l)

Your lips were like a red and ruby chalice,
Warmer than the Summer night.
The clouds were like an alabaster palace,
Rising to a snowy height.
Each star its own Aurora Borealis,
Suddenly you held me tight,
I could see the midnight sun.

I can t explain the silver rain that found me,
Or was that a moonlit veil?
The music of the universe around me,
Or was that a nightingale?
And then your arms miraculously found me,
Suddenly the sky turned pale,
I could see the midnight sun.

Was there such a night?
It s still a thrill I don t quite believe;
But after you were gone
There was still some stardust on my sleeve!

The flame of it may dwindle to an ember,
And the stars forget to shine,
And we may see the meadow in December,
Icy white and crystalline.
But oh, my darlin , always I ll remember
When your lips were close to mine,
And I saw the midnight sun.

Was there such a night?
It s still a thrill I don t quite believe;
But after you were gone
There was still some stardust on my sleeve!

The flame of it may dwindle to an ember,
And the stars forget to shine,
And we may see the meadow in December,
Icy white and crystalline.
But oh, my darlin , always I ll remember
When your lips were close to mine,
And I saw the midnight sun,
The midnight sun,
The midnight sun,
The midnight sun.

LOVE IS HERE TO STAY
From the film "Goldwyn Follies" & the film "An American in Paris"
(Ira Gershwin / George Gershwin)

It s very clear, our love is here to stay
Not for a year but ever and a day
The radio and the telephone and the movies that we know
May just be passing fancies and in time may go

But, oh, my dear, our love is here to stay
Together we re goin a long, long way
In time the Rockies may crumble
Gibraltar may tumble
They re only made of clay
But our love is here to stay

The radio and the telephone
And the movies that we know
May just be passing fancies,
And in time may go.

But oh, my dear,
Our love is here to stay.
Together we re
Going a long, long way.

In time the Rockies may crumble,
Gibraltar may tumble,
They re only made of clay,
But our love is here to stay.

LOVER MAN (OH, WHERE CAN YOU BE)
(Jimmy Davis / Jimmy Sherman / Roger Ramirez)

I don t know why, but I m feeling so sad
I long to try something I ve never had
Never had no kissin , oh, what I ve been missin
Lover man, oh, where can you be

The night is so cold and I m feel so all alone
I d give my soul just to call you my own
Never had no kissin , oh, what I ve been missin
Lover man, oh, where can you be

I ve heard it said
That the thrill of romance can be
Like a heavenly dream
I go to bed with a prayer
That you ll make love to me
Strange as it seems

Someday we ll meet
And you ll dry all my tears
Then whisper sweet little things in my ears
Huggin and a-kissin
Oh, what I ve been missin
Lover man oh where can you be

I ve heard it said
That the thrill of romance can be
Like a heavenly dream
I go to bed with a prayer
That you ll make love to me
Strange as it seems

Someday we ll meet
And you ll dry all my tears
Then whisper sweet little things in my ears
Huggin and a-kissin
Oh, what I ve been missin
Lover man oh where can you be

Lover man, oh, where can you be

FINE AND MELLOW
(Billie Holiday)

My man don t love me
Treats me oh, so mean
My man don t he love me
Treats me awful mean
He s the lowest man
That I ve ever see

He wears high drape pants
Stripes are really yellow
He wears high drape pants
Stripes area really yellow
But when he starts in to love me
He s so fine and mellow

Love will make you drink and gamble
Make you stay out all night long
Love will make you drink and gamble
Make you stay out all night long
Love will make you do things
That you know is wrong

But if you treat me right, baby
I ll stay home every day
If you treat me right, baby
I ll stay home every day
But you re so mean to me, baby
I know you re gonna drive me away

Love is just like a faucet
It turns off and on
Love is like a faucet
It turns off and on
Sometimes when you think it s on, baby
It has turned off and gone

turned off and gone
turned off and gone

IN A SENTIMENTAL MOOD
Duke Ellington / Manny Kurtz / Irving Mills

In a sentimental mood,
I can see the stars coming through my room,
While your loving attitude
Is like a flame that lights the gloom.

On the wings of every kiss
Drifts a melody so strange and sweet;
In this sentimental mess
You make my paradise complete.

Rose petals seem to fall,
It s like a dream to call you mine!
My heart s a lighter thing
Since you made this night a thing divine.

In a sentimental mood,
I m within a world so heavenly,
For I never dreamt that you d
Be loving sentimental me,
Loving sentimental me!

Rose petals seem to fall,
It s like a dream to call you mine!
My heart s a lighter thing
Since you made this night a thing divine.

In a sentimental mood,
I m within a world so heavenly,
For I never dreamt that you d
Be loving sentimental me,
Loving sentimental me!

(YOU MAKE ME FEEL LIKE) A NATURAL WOMAN
Carole King, Gerry Goffin and Jerry Wexler

Looking out on the morning rain
I used to feel so uninspired
And when I knew I had to face another day
Lord, it made me feel so tired
Before the day I met you, life was so unkind
But you re the key to my peace of mind

Cause you make me feel
You make me feel
You make me feel like
A natural woman (woman)

When my soul was in the lost and found
You came along to claim it
I didn t know just what was wrong with me
Til your kiss helped me name it
Now I m no longer doubtful, of what I m living for
And if I make you happy I don t need to do more

Cause you make me feel
You make me feel
You make me feel like
A natural woman (woman)

Oh, baby, what you ve done to me (what you ve done to me)
You make me feel so good inside (good inside)
And I just want to be, close to you (want to be)
You make me feel so alive

You make me feel
You make me feel
You make me feel like
A natural woman (woman)

You make me feel
You make me feel
You make me feel like a natural woman (woman)

You make me feel
You make me feel

LUSH LIFE
(Written by Billy Strayhorn)

I, I used to visit all these very gay places
Those come what may places
Where one relaxes on the axis of the wheel of life
To get a feel of life
From jazz and cocktails

The girls I knew had sad and sullen grey faces
With distant gay traces
That used to be there
You could see where they ve been washed away
By too many through the day
Twelve o clock tales

Then suddenly you came along
With a siren song
It tempts me to madness
I thought for a while that your poignant smile
Was tinged with the sadness...
Of a great love for me

Life is lonely again,
And only last year everything seemed so sure.
Now life is awful again,
A thoughtful of hearts could only be a bore.
A week in Paris will ease the bite of it,
All I care is to smile in spite of it.

I ll forget you, I will
While yet you are still burning inside my brain.
Romance is mush,
Stifling those who strive.
I ll live a lush life in some small dive
And there I ll be, while I rot
With the rest of those whose lives are lonely, too

Romance is mush,
Stifling those who strive.
I ll live a lush life in some small dive
And there I ll be, while I rot
With the rest of those whose lives are lonely, too

MY FUNNY VALENTINE
(Richard Rodgers / Lorenz Hart)

My funny valentine, sweet comic valentine
You make me smile with my heart
Your looks are laughable, un-photographable
Yet, you re my favorite work of art

Is your figure less than Greek?
Is your mouth a little weak?
When you open it to speak
Are you smart?

But, don t change a hair for me
Not if you care for me
Stay little valentine, stay
Each day is Valentine s Day

Stay little valentine
Stay
Each day is Valentine s Day

BODY AND SOUL
Music: Johnny Green / Lyrics: Frank Eyton, Edward Heyman & Robert Sour)

I can t believe it
It s hard to conceive it
That you turn away romance
Are you pretending
It looks like the ending
Unless I could have one more chance to prove, dear

My life a wreck you re making
You know I m yours for just the taking
I d gladly surrender myself to you body and soul

My days is sad and lonely
for you I sigh.... for you dear only
why haven t you seen it?
I m all for you.... body and soul.

I spend my days in longing
I spend my days in longing
And wondering why it s me you re wronging
I tell you that I mean it
I m all for you.... body and soul.

I can t believe it.
It s hard to conceive it.
That you would turn away romance.
Are you pretending?
it looks like the ending.
Unless I could have one more chance
to prove, dear....

My life a wreck you re making
you know I m yours.... just for the taking
I would gladly surrender.
Surrender myself to you.... body and soul.
