“Welcome to the Planet” by Big Big Train

LYRICS:

Made from Sunshine

You re home
We re over the moon
Next door s magnolias tree s in bloom
Just for you
It s true
It s all for you

You re everything
Make our hearts sing in time
You re made from sunshine
It s clear to see
We re on cloud nine

You are just beautiful
May we say
Your toes are tiny perfection shaped
It s true
They re so
Kissable too

You re everything
Make our hearts sing in time
You re made from sunshine
It s clear to see
We re on cloud nine

You re everything
Make our hearts sing in time
You re made from sunshine
Life is just fine
Read you a book at bedtime
You re made from sunshine

The Connection Plan

Show me a sign
Make it all clear
A moment in time
To face all fears
A bridge to the world
Connection plan

Stand back on there, look away
Trying to see the other side, It s alright
If I stumble, you fall, we get up
We will stand, it s the connection plan

Sunshine s in the sky, down on you
The energy within the heart is nothing new
I stumble, you fall, and we get up
We will stand, it s the connection plan

Places I ve been
Things that I ve seen
Intentions revealed
Bluе, black, red and green

Count your blessings
Leaving somеthing
Trust and prove
Kill the spotlight
Power and might
Here to survive
By my side

Stand back on there, look away
Trying to see the other side, It s alright
If I stumble, you fall, we get up
We will stand, it s the connection plan

Sunshine s in the sky, down on you
The energy within the heart is nothing new
I stumble, you fall, and we get up
We will stand, it s the connection plan
The world can collide
With beauty as the outcome
Connecting one
Connecting all
It s the plan, it s the plan
It s the plan, the connection plan
It s the plan, it s the plan
It s the plan, the connection plan
It s the plan, it s the plan
It s the plan, the connection plan
It s the plan

Stand back on there, look away
Trying to see the other side, It s alright
If I stumble, you fall, we get up
We will stand, it s the connection plan

Sunshine s in the sky, down on you
The energy within the heart is nothing new
I stumble, you fall, and we get up
We will stand, it s the connection plan

Lanterna

Kings of the land
Are weak before the seas
And rising storms
Wisdom can fade
And towers fall

We look at the same stars
Walk the same paths
Leave only a trace
And just for a while

We wait for the ebbing tide
And try to make for common ground
Ahead of the dying light
We look to find a way back home

Out on the edge
Seeking a path
There are no gods here
Only us

Fly before the storm
Racing for the shore
No safe harbour near
Nowhere left to hide
Find a course to take them home
Work together
Stand together
Not alone
They are not alone

Old man of the sea
Rising from the deep
Summoning the waves
Calling out their names
Running from an angry god
Lead them home
Bring them home
They are not alone
Not alone
At a place where the waves meet the shore
Raise a tower
And send light over the sea
Mark the land with unshakable spires
Make a harbour
For travellers
And for strangers

Keepers of the light
Reach far into the night
For those who sail the seas
In peril on the tides
Voyagers escaping storms
Beacons call to bring them home
They are not alone
Not alone

At a place where the waves meet the shore
Raise a giant
And send light over the sea
Mark the land with unshakable spires
Make a harbour
For travellers
And for strangers

We made the land our common ground
We made the sea our common ground
As we stand together
Side by side
Turn our faces to the skies
One day we take ship to the stars

Capitoline Venus

Have we travelled well
And far enough?
Or maybe not so far
To find ourselves
And find a place
We d call home

Have you seen too much
Or not enough?
Maybe more than you wanted
Or less than you needed?
Did we find each other?

Well, you re still by my side
Walking at my side
We could go a little further
Or look a little longer
But I d never find another
Who would fill my heart with wonder

I have seen enough
And found home

A Room with No Ceiling
(instrumental)

Proper Jack Froster

Please may I get down
From the table?
There are hours left in the day
There are places I must run to
Where shallow enders find their way
It s been a long time
Such a long time

Mum can bark and shout the house down
But there are hens with sharper teeth
So I hang quiet
At the foot of our stairs
Wait for your call
And out I go

Jack Frost has painted the doors and the windows
Jack Frost was up before the dawn
The clouds come rolling in
And the snow falls
Flying down the hills
On a sledge with rusty rails
Onе more run then home

It s gеtting colder
By the minute
The rain gives way
To hoped-for snow

So I flew out
Went round to your house
We ll be together
For all our lives

Jack Frost has painted the doors and the windows
Jack Frost was up before the dawn
The clouds come rolling in
And the snow falls
Flying down the hills
On a sledge with rusty rails
One more run then home
But home does not feel like a home anymore
The monsters are waiting outside an open door
The places you ran to are further away
The friends that you ran with have all gone astray

Do you remember when snow fell
At Christmas?
Do you remember the joy?
That seems a long time ago
And so far from here
Perhaps it was a dream
If Jack would call once again
You may find us
Flying down the hills
On a sledge with rusty rails
One last run then home

Bats in the Belfry
(instrumental)

Oak and Stone

In mountain springs
Headwaters rise
In those hills
I may find
Peace of mind

The river s source
Has gone to ground
Hard to reach
Eagles soar
Search in distant lands

This is what I came for
What I longed for
And it changes everything
And nothing at all
Here is a face from those old pictures
Black and white turned to gold
In these trembling hands

Long time coming
Long journey home
Oak and stone
Lands unknown
To reveal

Worlds apart
Stranger still
How can I
Close the space
While we still draw breath?

This is what I came for
What I longеd for
And it changes everything
And nothing at all
Hеre is a face from those old pictures
Black and white turned to gold
In these trembling hands
Winterbourne in distant hills
The way downstream is further still
Through elderflower
And hawthorn woods
Starlings dancing high above
All roads lead to somewhere else
And never seem to reach an end
The order of the world s unchanged
The constellations are the same

Time to put this thing to rest
Time to leave the empty stage
A footnote
An unwritten page
Words are better left unsaid
Stories do not always find an end

The source of a river
Is hard to find
Out of reach
Out of time
And so far from home

This is what I came for
What I longed for
And it changes everything
And nothing at all

‘Oak and Stone’ is dedicated to Emile and Massimo, who found the song

Welcome to the Planet

Try not to get abducted
Try not to be afraid
Auntie Carly s singing-lullabies
To all the children that she never made

Welcome to the planet, babes
Stand in line, don t be afraid
(Why, what a long sleep?you ve?had)

And?my message to?you through song
Is?to grow your hair very long
Babe, you can t go wrong

Welcome to the planet, welcome
Welcome to the planet, welcome
Welcome, welcome

Welcome to your life
You are so welcome (welcome)
Don t be afraid, you re welcome (welcome)
You re welcome
You re welcome
Welcome

You see - everything is OK, everything is OK
Welcome
Welcome

Welcome, welcome
You are welcome here
Try not to get abducted
Try not to be afraid
Auntie Carly s singing lullabies
To all the children that she never made
